Diaper reviews

As a 24/7 diaper wearer it is essential that you wear the appropriate diaper which suites your needs. It’s not only about the looks of the diaper, but more about functionality of the particular diaper you chose to wear.

There are a lot of different diapers out there. Some are very discreet going from very thin which wont last you long, one wetting and you leak (depending on how much you wet, off course). Then there are diapers which are in between, these usually get’s you through 3-4 hours, before needing to change. Then On the other end of the spectrum you’ll find insanely thick diapers, which obviously will last long. they hold a ton, but also fill’s out your pants; especially when wet / soaked. So these I can only recommend wearing at home, where it doesn’t matter that you waddle and have a significant diaper bulge both front and back.

What I’m trying to say here is, you can go thin, and be very discreet but then you have to change after each wetting more or less. Not a viable way when you are back in diapers 24/7 and are using your diaper for every wetting. Or you can go with the very thick and very bulky diaper, which will last you 12 hours maybe. But then you will be exposing yourself to be outed, either because of the very protruding bulk you will display, or the very distinct waddle when you walk (Usually both). I usually chose in between, usually with a diaper booster.

For me the key is to find the best of the two options! A diaper which will last me the required hours, but still be discreet enough to wear without being outed. My reviews are based on my experience with a given diaper.

With that said, when I try out a new diaper which I haven’t used before, I always start at home – in a safe environment. Simply because since I have no past experience with this particular diaper I end up having diaper leaks. However given the years of experience wearing and using diapers exclusively, I do know when to change to a dry one. That is when I start feeling wetness on my buttocks, then it’s time to get into a dry and clean diaper.

Review of the Mydiaper X-plus (Medium sized. Claimed capacity 5000ml.)

First impression after opening the package.

The diaper is all white and feels solid, note there is no wetness indicator on the diaper. Padding is the usual hourglass form, and it is wide in the center. The touch of the padding is semi soft but a bit stiff. Plastic shell feels very thick and sturdy. The diaper does not crinkle too much. It has tall leakguards which is a good thing, as this will help contain wetness as well as solids safely. It has the standard 4 tapes to it with two tapes each, which means, you can re-adjust the diaper if you need to.

Pros.

The plastic shell is thick, very thick compared to other diaper, and is nice to the touch, feels smooth. I actually love the feel.

Padding, soft but stiff padding, padding is wide in the crotch and extends out both in front and back.

The overall diaper is fairly thick, without being too thick, though. It feels robust when you hold it, and have some weight to it.

The crinkling is not too loud but fairly noticeable if not muffled by clothing. (I like it this way)

Fit is good, you feel very secure and comfortable in this diaper due to it rising fairly high in the front and rear and also because of the feeling of the padding. They leave adequate room at the bottom, which adds to the comfort.

Absorbency is as expected, it does absorb well, not sure it actually can hold the proclaimed 5000ml. My estimate in regard to absorbency is around 1800ml. in real life use. How it handles floods, I honestly dont know. I rarely if ever flood my diaper anymore. Usually I wet in smaller volumes. Which is the perfect situation for any diaper. As this allows the diaper to absorb wetness. The wicking capability of the diaper is ok, I have used diapers with better wicking capability, but also worse. Wetness is spread evenly out in the diaper, which means the padding does get used well. However I have not been able to, unless I have lied down to utilize all of the padding in the back.

The diaper do swell when wet, but that is to be expected. However they do not swell insanely; but still enough to let you know and feel you are diapered. I actually like feeling some bulk from my diaper between my legs. However the way the Mydiaper X-plus swells means, there is a decent amount of pulp in the padding together with the SAP. The diaper do a good job of locking in wetness, and also firm up the shell pretty well. Look, feel, and texture all improve as you wet. They don’t really sag much either. Padding starts out very stiff when dry as mentioned in my previous post, but quickly changes to being more flexible but firm as the sap takes in the wetness. Diaper comfort normally goes down as you wet, but these actually get more comfy in several ways as you wet which is nice.

Tapes stick fairly well to the diaper, and as said you have two options for each. However the tapes are on the smaller size.

Odor protection, the diaper is quite good in containing any odors. You don’t get this obvious wet diaper smell, even when it is soaked and you have been in the diaper for +8 hours. Off course depending on your fluid intake, and what type of fluid. As with all diapers, it is recommended to increase water intake to dilute your pee, so it wont smell as strong. Same goes with the Mydiaper X-plus M4.

Pricing, Price for these diapers are actually quite cheap. 12.12 € for a pack of 14 diapers.

Cons.

The diaper does not have either front or rear elastics. Which could impact the fit of the diaper. But I haven’t really noticed this to be a huge problem. However I do prefer having both front and rear elastics on my diaper as it does aid in the “snug” feeling. They still fit reasonably comfortably, though.

Tapes! Tapes are a huge problem with this diaper. The whole batch of 14 diapers I have been through, I experienced tapes simply breaking off the wings of the diaper. Yes, you heard me, simply breaking off! So I had to use duck tape, when putting the diaper on. To make sure it stayed put. This obviously greatly impacts adjustments of the diaper, if you by any chance needs to put it down and up again. Bad Bad Bad thing, and something I hope they will fix.

Ending thoughts, on looks specifically: I think these actually do a good job of looking like a baby diaper from years ago. They’re all white, the sturdy plastic gives them just the right visual texture, the lack of front or rear elastic gives the back a smooth top and the front a flat fold-over like diapers used to tend to have. Worn under jeans or any other trousers, they are reasonable discreet. They wont make you waddle, at least not when dry and semi wet. Diaper bulge both front and back are not that noticeable when dry though if you know what to look for, you will be able to see some bulge. The diaper do become more obvious the more wet it gets, which is to be expected, when really wet, this diaper for sure let’s you know you are padded, and a slight waddle is to be expected. As with all diapers, it is recommended to go up a size in your pants, to help disguise your diaper.

As for all diapers, I do recommend adding a pair of waterproof pants on top of the diaper.

I curious, if others haven’t had any issues with the tapes coming off the wings? or it was just me being unlucky with my pack of diapers.
